Elizabeth Fries Young Investigator Award:
Awarded for the graduate student, fellow, post-doc, or assistant professor whose research shows the most promise to improve women's health. This year's recipient was Jennifer Patterson, a graduate student in the department of Microbiology & Immunology. Jennifer's faculty collaborators were Drs. Philippe Gererd (ob-gyn), Nicole Karjane (ob-gyn), and Kim Jefferson (microbiology-immunology). The poster was titled "Effects of Hydrogen Peroxide and Lactic Acid on Planktonic versus Adherent Biofilm Cultures of Gardnerella Vaginalis." (Poster # 51) View abstract
Jennifer received a certificate as well as a generous stipend donated by Liz Fries' husband, Dr. Viktor Bovbjerg, to cover the registration and travel costs forJennifer to present her work at a scientific conference.
