Areas to Support

Our fund-raising campaign provides support to continue to make our vision of integrated women's health services a reality. While donations may be made to support the Institute overall, your contribution also may be designated to support programs in three focus areas - research, clinical care and community outreach - and/or people.

Programs

Research: The Institute for Women's Health is working to improve the ways research into women's health issues is conceived, constructed and applied. Financial contributions help to ensure that the power and potential of Richmond's only health and research university is specifically applied to the health needs and concerns of women.

Clinical Care: For women, receiving appropriate clinical care is all-to-often a confusing, disempowering process of seeking out various specialists and then trying to follow all of their orders. Donations toward clinical care at the VCU Women's Health Center provide for a very different experience, in which a broad range of resources are brought directly to women and women participate in their own care.

Community Outreach: Health education in all its forms and for many many different audiences is a vital part of the Institute's mission. Support of the community outreach area allows the Institute's educational impact to include new community outreach programs, projects and partnerships.

People

Help us attract the best and brightest women's health experts to VCU, people who bring with them tremendous skill and capabilities as well as funded research that will create new knowledge and stimulate research growth and investment in our region. These leaders and researchers will be an asset to the Institute and, in a much broader sense, to the women of Virginia.

Ways to Donate

Make a tax-deductible contribution. Since 1999 the Institute for Women's Health has worked across Virginia Commonwealth University and the metropolitan Richmond community to improve the health of women. Thanks to our supporters, we have been successful in advancing awareness of the unique needs of women across the lifespan and in improving women's health services throughout the VCU Medical Center.

Name the Institute for Women's Health as a beneficiary. A bequest - making a donation through your will - is one of the easiest and most effective ways to make sure that your family and friends are fully provided for by your estate, while at the same time supporting the important work of the Institute for Women's Health. A bequest has the added advantage of lowering your federal estate taxes and reducing estate fees. Suggested wording for leaving a bequest to the Institute can be provided upon request; please also consult your attorney or tax adviser for further information.
