As part of Virginia Commonwealth University, the Institute for Women’s Health is extremely proud of its specialized services for women and serves as a leader in promoting standards of excellence in women’s health care, advancing cutting edge research, fostering community outreach and collaboration, enhancing women’s leadership, and provide training and education toward the goal of improving the health of women.
An emphasis on ‘making the connection’ between violence against women and public health is resulting in coordinating efforts to increase awareness and prevention of domestic and sexual violence in our community.
In order to share the many domestic and sexual violence training and resources VCU has to offer our physicians, nurses, and other health providers, students, patients and the community the VCU Domestic & Sexual Violence working group offers a Speaker's Bureau.
The speakers available are leaders in what they do: speakers who are thought-provoking, action-oriented and who have earned local, statewide and even national recognition in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault training, education, advocacy, public policy and research.
Our group of experts, including social workers, sociologists, health care providers, nurses, researchers and community service providers are prepared to work with your organization to provide answers to many of your domestic and sexual violence related questions and concerns, The speakers work from an interdisciplinary and culturally sensitive approach and provide workshops, presentations and educational forums on a number of different topics such as:
